Dark Horizon is a highly modified DIKU MUD designed solely to provide a role playing experience in a Cyberpunk/Shadowrun type futuristic world. Dark Horizon is as focused on serious role play as any MUSH; but it combines that role playing focus with the hard-coded realism of a DIKU MUD. Players are required to maintain a high level of role play at all times, and our standards are demanding.

    Many of the ideas and paradigms that go behind creating a Role Playing Intensive (RPI) atmosphere were pioneered by Armageddon MUD, which you will find to be a very similar experience to Dark Horizon, and which we have based much of the game play and administration for Dark Horizon off of. Credit is due to them for creating such an exciting and fun environment to role play on the Internet.

    The purpose of this page is to serve as a central location for documentation about the game and its world, as well as to provide an introduction for users new to our environment. We do strongly suggest that new players take the time to review the wealth of documents describing the world of Dark Horizon in order to help them design and role play an interesting, compelling character. At the same time, we invite current players to continue perusing the docs as new ones are added and existing ones augmented.
