Cyberpunk, Magick and God collide
Summary:
As man strives to place himself closer and closer to god (read dna
work, cybertechnology, etc...), magick resurfaces, reawakening in
people and the world. Seeing this, the underlying battle between
good and evil picks up with fevor as the celestial realm follows the
colony to the new world.
Concept:
Each character you play is a vessel in the world, you're basically
playing a soul that hops between them (somehow accounting for not
being their for childhood). As one dies, your soul goes to the
next. The actions of your soul weigh on it, swinging you between
good and evil.
Concept:
Three realms of existance reflected on each other in many ways.
They are the physical realm, ethereal realm and celestial realm.
Physical being the world as we know it, Ethereal being the world of
dreams and magick, and Celestial being the world of angels and
demons
Concept:
Every vessel you inhabit as a player has three groups of
attributes, one for each realm of existance, and each a reflection
of an attribute in another realm.
- Physical Attributes are: Body, Condition and Agility
- Ethereal Attributes are: Intelligence, Magick, Balance
- Celestial Attributes are: Willpower, Charisma, Perception
The first in each group is what you're born with, the second is
what you've done with it, and the third is your adeptness at using
it
You can't do much about the first set besides like implants or
drugs, the second can be trained and the third is adeptness at
using it
Soul is the 10th attribute
The physical world is the most common, that most of the players
will spend most of their time in. To start they will all be colonists
aboard the Horizon in the final 20 years of decelleration. Once
the 20 years is up, the quandrants will seperate and the individual
parts will land on the new planet. Each quandrant will be a city
on the new planet.
People in the physical world will have cellphones, voicemail,
cyberimplants, not sure on guns yet, but probably guns. The other
realms of existance will be like different spectrums of existance,
ie they overlap and sometimes even interact.
Magick will be castable and have different forms, things which
effect the physical, ethereal and celestial.
There will be some items which are artifacts, which are tied to
one or another realm which carry with them a bit of that realm,
regardless of what realm they're in.
Conflict will be on many levels, to the normal player
(mostlikely playing a shadowrunner type role) things seem to be
driven by information in the corporate world, but credits (money) is what
they strive for, doing things to survive. Corporate battles wage as
they seek to unveil the next advance first, or keep another company
from finishing it's new work on the new type of gene molding.
Behind that, the angels and demons pull their strings, seeking
to gain and advance their cause. Angels trying to put forth goals
put on them by their superiors, for a creator who gave a world
to a bunch of monkeys and gave them souls, for them to waste it.
Demons trying to subvert more souls to the Devil's side, random acts
of chaos, and some not so random
The idea is to start small, not letting players into
corporate/angel/devil roles at first, letting the staff handle
that.
